The Four Diamonds Recycling Effort
Many of you have been wondering about a really easy way to help THON. Well, we have a great way that you can help THON, and the environment, all at the same time!
The Four Diamonds Recycling Effort (4DRE) is a really great (and super easy!) way to help grow THON’s impact, total and relationship with Penn State. Not only does 4DRE help maintain strong relations between THON and the university but also raises money and exemplifies the THON 4DRE motto - For The Kids, For The Planet. THON 4DRE is just one more way your organization, campus, or committee can be more involved. Any Penn State organization can participate by collecting UNCRUSHED Aluminum Cans and Plastic Bottles (#1-7).
Throughout the Four Diamonds Recycling Effort, THON OPPerations Captains work closely with Penn State OPP to keep track of bags turned in at drop off locations. Based on these totals, Organizations/Committees will have opportunities to win one of THREE GREAT PRIZES! One prize is Slides of Strength passes to support the dancers at the hour-long Slides of Strength! The other two prizes are passes to participate in a Line Dance on stage!
One prize will be given to the organization (including special interest, general, Greek and Commonwealth groups) who turns in the most full and properly labeled 4DRE bags. The second prize will be given to the committee who turns in the most full and properly labeled 4DRE bags. And the last prize will be given based on a lottery system – one chance per bag. So keep collecting!
Once your group has collecting recyclables – plastic bottles and aluminum cans need to be separated and placed in the 4DRE bags available in the THON office (210 HUB). When the bags are full, place your 4DRE number on the bag and drop it off at one of the five on-campus drop off locations. Drop off locations will open on December 5th and will remain open until the week before THON weekend!
Remember:
