Take A Break From Studying And…

There are a lot of events taking place on today on Wednesday, December 7.  Not only is it the beginning of the yearlong THON Blood Drive, it is also time to get your pita on at Pita Pit Stop FTK!  Take a break from studying and make your way down to these events!

PIta Pit Stop FTK

From 11 am-10 pm, come on down to the last fundraiser of the season!  Pita Pit, located at 218 Calder Way in downtown State College will be donating a portion of the proceeds from sales both online and in the store to THON 2012!  Go with a group, grab some lunch, or even have some pita’s delivered to your meeting; anything to help support THON one last time during the school year.  Take a break from all the studying that you’ve been doing for finals week and check out all the delicious food that Pita Pit has to offer.  Tweet #PitStopFTK @THON and let us know how your food is, or even what you plan to order.  We’ll see you there!

THON Kickoff Blood Drive

Cancer patients account for almost 20% of all blood transfusions given. The #1 reason blood donors say they give is because they “want to help others.” Help us Brighten Every Journey by donating blood!
Join THON and the Red Cross for the THON Kickoff Blood Drive on Wednesday, December 7th from 10am - 4pm in Alumni Hall in the HUB. For every presenting donor, $4 will be donated to THON and credited to the organization of your choice. Sign up to donate online here: https://www.givelife.org/index.cfm?group=op&hek=027412

Here is one example of how giving blood can help make a difference in the life of a child!: “We were like most Americans going about our business every day somehow thinking that we were impervious to any harm. All of this changed on September 15th, 2004 when our son Gabriel was diagnosed with Leukemia. Our days were filled with clinic visits and longer hospital stays of a week or longer. All the while, during all of his treatments came the blood transfusions. One day after the next our son survived. Each time when he was at his weakest, came the blood, given by some stranger, maybe not knowing that this gift, this precious gift, was helping to save a life, our son’s life. Never will we look at giving blood again as a simple gesture. It is the most noble gesture. Giving money is easy. Giving time is harder. Giving blood is part of you, your essence bestowed to another, not just helping but saving another’s life.” -Hank Angus, father of blood recipient
